It used to be when you flew for business reasons that your company would get you business class flights for your travels. This was because business class offered a bit more room so you could work while en route without the expense of first class. Business class flights also provide a few other extras that made travel easy for those who were in the skies quite a bit for work purposes, and flying that much in coach was more of a pain than anything else.

Today, the business class flights you used to see are slowly going away. More and more airlines are cutting out a lot of their business class flights and sticking with just coach and first class flights. A big reason for this is expense. It is much cheaper to buy new planes with just two classes, and this is keeping the business class flights you used to use down in number to the point where you may not find them when you need them. A friend of mine works for an airline, and she agrees that while business class flights were helpful to the business passenger, they were indeed some of the first changes airlines started to make when money started to get tight. Airlines have to make changes to survive, and sadly, this was one that had to be made.

If you are still looking for business class flights, you can still find them if you look hard enough. They may not be as easy to find if you live in a smaller community, but they are out there somewhere. You may even have to take a coach connection to a larger city to get a business class flight to your final destination. If you can afford it, you may have to consider going first class from now on if you need the extra room to spread out and work while on a flight.

If you have no choice in the matter, you may find that your company begins to put you in coach no matter where you are going. This may become more and more common as time goes on, and this may change the way your company does business. Today there are ways around business travel, including videoconferencing and the like, but some know that this will never replace the need to have a person on the spot to get the job done.

Little girls who have a fascination with dolls often grow into collectors as adults. Antique dolls are a specialist interest with a large following. They come from various sources but French and German dolls are particularly prized. They are made from different materials, some more durable than others.

For dolls that are damaged, all is not lost. There are doll hospitals where staff are experienced in repairing antique dolls. Collectors also like to have period clothing, wigs and accessories and these too can be restored at doll hospitals. There are many different designs to choose from and a collection could soon fill an entire room! They are a delightful addition to any home and will be appreciated by all generations. To qualify as antique, they have to be at least one hundred years old. Collectible dolls are between twenty five and seventy five years old.

Bisque dolls are very popular. These have heads that are made from unglazed porcelain and some are Pink Bisque dolls with a pink colored tinge. China dolls have heads of glazed porcelain and a sheen surface. Child dolls are the name given to German made dolls with a Bisque head and a dolly face, a term that denotes an open mouth and eyes that open and close. Carton Moule are French or German papier mache antique dolls that have a Bisque head and a life like face. Some papier mache dolls are immersed in wax.

Rag dolls, wholly made from cloth or fabric are popular too, especially with younger children. Some dolls have flirty eyes, meaning that the eyes can move from side to side. Fortune Telling Dolls have fortunes written on bits of paper that are stitched to the doll’s skirt. Half Dolls are a head, torso and arms mounted on a pincushion base. Peddler Dolls are modeled on peddlers that sell items in the streets.

It’s just as much fun to collect clothing for the dolls. There are charming dresses, socks and pantaloons. Various hats are available, made from French silk, straw or velvet. Shoes are often made from leather and there are also felt slippers and fabric boots. Outfits can be topped off with a silk parasol with a handle made from wood, bone or ivory. The wigs for antique dolls are often made from a mohair material and the doll can have her own comb and hairbrush set. The world of doll collecting extends to accessories, such as porcelain dishes, pitchers and bowls and picnic baskets.

I have had many pets in my life, and have enjoyed them all. Lately, however, I have been wanting something a little bit more exotic. With the wide variety of animals for sale, I figured that I could find something interesting – something unique, something that no one had but me. I couldn’t think of anything at first. I have friends with ferrets, cats, rats, dogs, snakes, and lizards. What else could I get? Then it occurred to me; I could get a monkey!

I had seen a sign for pet monkeys for sale in one of the local pet store about a week ago. I had been so surprised that I had to look twice. I have seen many different kinds of animals for sale, but this was definitely the first for a monkey. At the time, I had been so struck by that I had to go in and look for myself. Could you really get such a smart animal for sale, I wondered?

It turns out that you can find almost any animals for sale that exist and are not dangerous or endangered. Basically, if there is a market for animals for sale, there is someone selling them. I have had many different pets for sale in my life, but a monkey seem like a commitment. I even briefly wondered whether or not it was moral to keep a monkey as a pet. Putting animals for sale like dog is one thing. All you need to keep a dog happy, after all, is a friendly pat on the head, a game of catch, and a tummy rub now and then. With monkeys, however, it was probably something different. I imagine the monkeys are time-consuming and very difficult to take care of.

After much soul-searching, I decided that a monkey was the perfect pet for me. I went down to the store with the sign for animals for sale and walked inside to look at their monkeys. To my dismay, many of them were in bad shape. You would think that a store that had so many exotic animals for sale would take better care of its stock, but this was not the case. Even the turtles looked unhealthy, and the higher animals – such as monkeys and dogs – looked absolutely terrible. After carefully considering my options, I decided that I could not buy animals for sale in such a scuzzy store.

Adventure travel is a rather new term for something that people have been doing for a long time. If you don’t want to just go on vacation to visit friends and take in the sights of a place you have wished to visit, you can have adventures to make your vacation something truly memorable. These may include almost any type of physical activity you can imagine, and may take you places you have never dreamed or going. You have an opportunity to see natural wonders, and travel far from the beaten path.

There are many different adventure travel packages from which you can choose, and it may just depend on what you want to do and where you want to go. You can find adventure travel almost anywhere in the world, and you can find travel packages to make planning your trip all the more easier. If you want to go rock climbing, there are probably packages for you to take if you would like, or you can go somewhere where the white water rafting is second to none. You may also skydive above the most beautiful landscape you have ever seen, or perhaps take a hike up one of the world’s largest and most daunting mountains.

Your adventure travel may also take you through a jungle or out into the middle of nowhere to see some of the world’s best examples of natural beauty. When you plan adventure travel you do have to be realistic about what you can do and what you may have a problem with. If you are going in a group, you don’t want to over extend yourself and find that you are holding everyone back because you can’t keep up.

You can look for adventure travel on most of the online travel sights and you may also want to call your local travel agent to see what they can find for you. Make sure someone helps you with everything you need, and remember that adventure travel is different from other types. There may be more things you have to worry about when planning, and you may need special shots to get into some areas of the world that most people don’t regularly go to for travel purposes. You may also have to have special equipment or items you may not have considered, so make sure you ask questions and get all the details before you go.

I’d bet that almost everyone has had pizza delivered to their home at some point. This is probably especially true if you’ve got a teenager or two living in your house. With many pizza places offering restaurant delivery service it’s easy to order up dinner and have it brought right to your front door in less than thirty minutes.

What about all of us who are looking for a healthier alternative to pizza? We want the same convenience of having a restaurant delivery service bring dinner, but we are watching our figures so pizza isn’t our first choice.

There are actually more and more restaurants realizing that by offering home delivery to their customers, they are going to increase business. In fact, it’s now very common for many 5 star establishments to offer a restaurant delivery service to their patrons.

The price you pay for this service is really determined by the individual restaurants. Some will increase the price of the food slightly in order to cover the restaurant delivery service costs, which include extra staff as well as gasoline and car maintenance for the delivery person. Others offer a free restaurant delivery service for any order over a certain price. The reason they do this is really two-fold, one is to help cover those extra costs and the other is to encourage their patrons to purchase more. After all, if you can save delivery costs by spending more in food, why not do it?

Not all restaurants advertise this service as they don’t want to discourage people from coming into their establishment. If you are unsure if they do indeed have a restaurant delivery service, give them a call and inquire. If it is offered, they’ll explain the costs involved to you.

Some smaller cities are seeing the creation of businesses that realize the need for delivery. One business may offer a restaurant delivery service to several different restaurants. How this works is that after you’ve ordered your food, the restaurant calls the delivery service and they send someone out to pick up the meal along with your address. They deliver the food, you pay them and they reimburse the restaurant. The restaurant covers the cost of the restaurant delivery service by paying a set fee each time they need the service. This is a great solution in a city where restaurants want to offer the convenience of home delivery, but they don’t have the resources to employ someone to do the job on a full-time basis.

If you don’t feel like cooking dinner tonight, call a local restaurant and order up a healthy dinner. You can relax while it’s cooked and delivered right to your door. Now, if only there was a kitchen clean-up crew that came with the restaurant delivery service.

If you don’t like to fly, you probably take road trips when you go on vacation. For me, I’ll go either way, but there will always be something special about jumping in the car and going down to highway for nice long road trips. Riding in the car with friends or your family gives you time to talk that you may not get everyday, especially if you have a demanding job and a hectic lifestyle. Road trips are great for quick weekend getaways too. You don’t have to be gone very long to enjoy the benefits of going somewhere to relax. Road trips are the fastest and most economical way to do this. You don’t have to go very far to get away from it all, and driving an hour or two may be all it takes to help you relax and forget about work and other stresses so you can relax.

Online mapping sites make it a lot easier to plan road trips on your own. RandMcNally.com has features that help you plan out road trips with ease. You simply put in the address of each place you need to get to, and it maps out the routes in between each stop for you. I recently used this, and thought it was wonderful. The directions were a little vague, but they got me where I was going. Imagine my surprise when I went past New York City at two AM, when the directions mentioned nothing of the sort!

When it comes to road trips, you also need a place to stay. You can easily find hotels online now, and you can find some of the best deals by searching multiple sites. Never accept the first price you find, because you may stumble upon a better price at the next site you visit. Keep a list of sites and their prices before you make your final decision.

If you are planning to take long road trips in the future, remember to keep your car in good condition. At the very least, have someone check your brakes, steering and tires before you go. It might also be a good idea to get an oil change, and to have your air filters changed. If you take a lot of road trips, you might also want to get AAA. They can help you if you have a flat tire, among other services, and will even help you map out a route if you don’t want to do it yourself.

Road trips are the single best way to spend any vacation. I have taken road trips across this country in every direction. I have even made it to and across Canada and may have a few tips for any of you readers that are planning road trips.

Road trips require a lot of patience and a good sense of humor. You will no doubt encounter people and situations you never considered. Remember to always treat the locals well. You are in someone else’s neighborhood now and ought to play by their rules and respect their customs and belief systems.

You must always bring ample supplies of drink and food on road trips. This cuts down on costs and time spent at restaurants instead of on the road. Everyone needs to go to the bathroom every time you stop to fill up the gas tank. Everyone, every time. It can be terribly aggravating to have to stop to let someone use the facilities when you stopped only thirty miles back. These little stops add up in the long run and mean lots of time lost.

Road trips can be dangerous. Be sure to check your tire pressure and fluid levels at every fill up. Keep as up to the minute on weather as possible. Check the radio for weather updates and stop off at a gas station or truck stop if you want to check out the weather report on television. The reports you will see on television will help give you a much better picture of what to expect out there.

One of my road trips had me coming down from Canada on my way to Chicago. It was early spring and there was a massive thunderstorm system in my way. Driving at night, it was difficult to gauge what was in front of me and what I had to look forward to. Listening to my gut feeling, I dropped by a truck stop and checked out the weather report. It was a good thing I stopped. After seeing the Doppler radar maps and listening to the stories of those who had just come in from the storm ahead, I sat down for a spell. A few hours and a pot of coffee later, the road ahead was clear and welcoming.

That brings me to the most important piece of advice for road trips and life in general - listen to your gut. It is smarter than you. If you ever feel that it may be a good idea to stop or slow down, check the tires or the weather, do so. It is better to be safe than sorry and if you are out there on a lonely road, it is no time to be hasty or rash. Take your time and take it easy. It is better to get there late and in one piece than not to get there at all.

Road trips can be a great way to spend quality time with your friends or loved ones. Bring a lot of good music with you and comfortable clothes. A good pair of sneakers and a comfy pair of pants are your best bets when spending hours in a car. Make sure you have a good pair of sunglasses too! If you do run into any trouble, don’t panic. If you remembered your cell phone, you will be in good shape. My phone has solved every problem I have encountered during my road trips. Just remember to charge the batteries!

I love cooking but it’s nice to have a break from it sometimes and be taken out to dinner. I like lots of different cuisine and my favorite restaurant dinner could be Italian, Indian, Greek, Thai or Chinese. A good, charcoal cooked burger with fries and salad is hard to beat too. Occasionally, I’ll go to a Spanish Tapas bar or a French Bistro. I’ve also been known to eat goulash at Hungarian restaurants and sushi at Japanese sushi bars. It all depends what mood I’m in. That’s the great thing about living near a city; just about every nation’s food is represented.

It’s nice to go out with a bunch of old friends to a restaurant, but my favorite meal is a romantic restaurant dinner for two. It doesn’t have to be a fancy place with a complicated menu, as long as it has a romantic atmosphere. The table must be set in a certain way, with candles and flowers. The dinner service must be exquisite and I prefer the tablecloth to be of crisp, white linen. I like the restaurant to be fairly quite, with just the background murmur of couples chatting. I don’t want any ambient music and I definitely don’t want people with violins or accordions inflicting their terrible noise at our table. There must be soft lighting and attentive, friendly waiters. They will be helpful and not condescending. I find the service in Indian restaurants to be the best; they look after you as if you were a long, lost cousin!

The most important element in a night out like this, apart from the company, is the food of course. I don’t mind waiting a while, within reason, if the food is superb. There must be plenty of it. No microscopic portions of Nouvelle Cuisine for me. Vegetables must not be overcooked and meat must be tender. Sauces should complement the dish, but not overwhelm it. The menu should have a lot of choice but not take an hour to read. I also despise flowery language on a menu. A restaurant dinner should involve New Potatoes in a Parsley Sauce not New Potatoes nestling in a sea of Sauce infused with Parsley from the sun kissed islands of Greece. People writing menus these days seem to think that their efforts may win a Pulitzer Prize or something. The wine menu should also be varied and presented in clear, understandable language. Coffee and a mint chocolate will finish the restaurant dinner just perfectly. Time to pour me into a cab.

Palm Springs, California, not to be confused with Palm Springs anywhere else, is famous first and foremost for its golf resorts and greens. This town of a modest population of under 50,000 is home to such public courses as the Canyon South Golf Course; Desert Falls Country Club; Desert Willow Golf Resort; The Golf Center at Palm Desert; Marriot Shadow Ridge Resort; Mesquite Country Club; Palm Springs Country Club; Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort; and Tommy Jacobs’ Bel Air Greens.

Palm Springs, California, known earlier as the “Playground of the Stars,” is also rife with recreation and leisure for any non-golfer, as well. Here, visitors can also hike (the Mount San Jacinto region most amenable for it, with Indian Canyon Cahuilla Indians, The Sierra Club, The Happy Traveler RV Park Community, and the Coachella Valley Hiking Club offering year-round opportunities); swim (at the Palm Springs Swim Center); ride horses (at the Coyote Ridge Stables or the Crazy Horse Ranch); play tennis (the first actual sport in Palm Springs, California, which still reigns supreme at such semi-private places as the Oasis Water Resort Villa, Palm Springs Hilton Racquet Club, Palm Springs Marquis Crowne Plaza Resort, or public courts at DeMuth Park, Mesquite Golf and Country Club, Palm Springs Country Club, or Ruth Hardy Park); go on balloon rides (with Balloon Above the Desert or SunBalloon); take Jeep tours (with Desert Adventures’ Red Jeep Tours or Adventure Hummer Desert Tours); and/or attend shopping areas, museums, fairs and festivals–such as the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

For residents of Palm Springs, California this means steady and reliable employment, with arts, recreation, accommodation and food industries leading the opportunities at 22% of the over-all income and with the more traditional—education, health, social services, manufacture, and retail coming in not far behind at thirteen and twelve percents. Over half of the residents work in town, while those commuting only have to scoot a mere twenty one minutes. And while the average income is relatively low, at about 36k a year, the housing is commensurate—with the value of a home averaging a little over 150k.

With a high school diploma (which 81 percent of the residents have) or higher degrees, with a love of the desert, and with an upbeat approach toward hotter temperatures, year-round, you might settle in Palm Springs, California to enjoy the simple life of service to stars…or you might join in the fun of arts, recreation, and desert life exploration.

Ontario, California is a moderate-sized city of modest advertisement: the people number about 160,000 but they keep to themselves for the most part, enjoying the community environment and benefiting economically from the local industries and the Ontario California Airport.

The residents earn an equally modest income, averaging approximately 42,500 dollars a year per household; a stunning 15 ½ percent live below the poverty line. There is no lack of education in Ontario, California, with twenty-five public elementary schools, six middle schools, five high schools, two military schools, numerous private schools, and even nine trade schools and one university (Chapman).… And employment is available in numerous industries—such as manufacturing (which provides the most work, almost twenty percent); education, health, and social services; and retail—with almost a third of the population of Ontario California staying in town to work.

At the same time, Ontario has its moments of claims to fame. It provided the setting—at the old Ontario Airport—for the DeCaprio/ Hanks movie, Catch Me if You Can, the exterior shots of a supposed Miami airport filmed at the old Ontario California airport terminal. According to a trivia buff at IMDB, “This old terminal is still standing, but was converted to office space when the new Ontario California Airport was opened.” Ontario, California is also home to and/or birthplace of “pioneer surfboard maker and catamaran builder” Hobie Alter; Major League Baseball players Rod Barajas, Del Crandall, Prince Fieldler, Al Newman, and Mike Sweeny; famed conductor Robert Shaw; renowned authors Beverly Cleary and Joseph Wambaugh; former Philadelphia Phillies’ manager Nick Leyva; pro footballer Anthony Munoz; and Major League Soccer player Landon Donovan.

And for all its quiet and charming discretion, Ontario California has a couple of best-kept secrets: not only did it undergo a constitutional dispute in 1989 when, after 30 years of displaying the 3-D Jesus scenes on the median at Euclid Avenue, the sculptures were challenged as violating separation of church and state laws, but the city has a reputation with Ripley’s Believe it or Not!…for their picnic table which for an intermittent seventy years has welcomed the diversity of residents every Fourth of July and which is recorded as the world’s longest picnic table. Now THAT’s community.
